Hwy 371 construction in Hackensack begins May 5

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Hwy 371 motorists may experience daily lane closures beginning on May 5 in Hackensack while crews begin construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

This urban reconstruction project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 371 and Cass County Road 5. Project elements also include reconstructing and paving Hwy 371, sidewalk upgrades, utility improvements and replacing a box culvert near Barthelemy Avenue.

Motorists can expect delays through town. Beginning May 12, a detour will be in place for trucks using Cass County roads 5 and 45. Check www.511mn.org for the latest information.

Once finished, this stretch of Hwy 371 in Hackensack will include a safer road, safer intersections, longer lasting driving surface, improved drainage and pedestrian accessibility. It is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
