Progress continues on the Highway 93 Henderson project in second year of construction
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports continued progress on the Highway 93 Henderson project as it moves through the second year of a three-year construction timeline.
Current construction highlights include:
- Embankment work continues to progress in most areas and remains on schedule.
- The Rush River Bridge deck was poured in early July. Remaining work includes installing railings and approach panels.
- Overflow bridge load transfer piling is ongoing. Construction of the bridge structure will begin once the load transfer platforms are complete.
- Final seeding and turf establishment is complete in several areas including near Buck Lake and at the southern end of the project.
- Soil settlement across the project area is progressing as expected.

Highway 93 has been closed since April 15, 2024, with traffic detoured to Highways 169 and 19. The project is expected to be complete in late 2026. Schedules are subject to change depending upon weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.
The project includes:
- Raising Highway 93 approximately eight feet, putting it one foot above historic high-water events
- Reconstructing 3.6 miles of Highway 93 from Highway 169 to Elm St. in Henderson
- Replacing the Rush River Bridge
- Constructing an additional overflow bridge to allow for Rush River flood relief
MnDOT reminds motorists to avoid going around barricades or entering the construction area due to safety.
S.M. Hentges & Sons was awarded the project with a bid of $30,606,833.65.
