Additional traffic changes begin Aug. 15 for communication upgrades along I-94 in Moorhead
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —Starting Friday, Aug. 15, weather permitting, motorists will encounter additional traffic changes in both directions on Interstate 94 west of Highway 336 in Moorhead, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Lane closures in both directions are planned for this Friday, Aug. 15, and overnight lane closure and full closure of a portion of I-94 is scheduled for Aug. 18 and Aug. 19, weather permitting. The closures are required for the installation of new overhead message boards.
What motorists can expect:
- Aug. 15, daytime: Right lane closure in both directions until 5 p.m., starting at 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes and 8 a.m. in the westbound lanes.
- Aug. 18, nighttime: Lane closure on westbound I-94, right lane closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Aug. 19-20, nighttime closure and detour: Overnight closure of I-94 in both directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour to follow 20th Street South, 40th Avenue South and 34th Street South.
During the overnight closure and detour on Aug. 19-20, because of its location within the work area, the Moorhead Travel Information Center will close to all travelers. The rest area will reopen when the roadway reopens.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change at any time. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
