Westbound I-94 in St. Paul, Minneapolis closed Aug. 15 weekend
St. Paul, Minn. – This summer and fall, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is repairing nine bridges over I-94 and I-35E in St. Paul. Westbound I-94 between I-35 E in St. Paul and I-35 W in Minneapolis will be closed starting 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18. This closure is in coordination with MnDOT’s I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge) maintenance work.
Weekend traffic will be directed from northbound I-35 E to westbound Hwy 36 to I-35 W. Detour map is here.
The Marion St. bridge over I-94 is also closed through late September. Traffic is being directed from Rondo Ave. to John Ireland Blvd. to Marion St. View a detour map.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule dependent and subject to change. MnDOT encourages people traveling in and around downtown St. Paul to plan ahead and review closures, especially for high-traffic summer events. MnDOT also urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
This project requires additional periodic weekend closures of I-94 and partial bridge closures throughout the summer and fall to ensure proper maintenance of bridges along the interstates.
