Round Lake Blvd. bridge repairs wrap up this weekend in Coon Rapids
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As repairs finish this weekend on the southbound Round Lake Boulevard bridge over Highway 10 in Coon Rapids, both directions of Highway 10 as well as both directions of Round Lake Blvd. at Highway 10, will close starting at 10 p.m. Fri, Oct. 17. At the same time, the outside lane of eastbound Highway 10 will be closed between Round Lake Blvd. and Hanson Blvd. During the closure, crews will remove falsework used to form concrete during the repairs and restripe the bridge deck.
Motorists will need to use an alternate route to avoid congestion and delays or follow the signed detours:
- Hwy 10 traffic will detour up and down the ramps at Round Lake Blvd.
- Southbound Round Lake Blvd. traffic will detour on Northdale Blvd. to reach Hwy 10
- Northbound Round Lake Blvd. motorists will be routed to Main Street and east to access Hwy 10.
All closures are expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Mon, Oct. 20.
The outside facia girder on the west side of the southbound Round Lake Blvd. bridge spanning Hwy 10 was damaged in mid-April when a construction vehicle with an over-height box struck the bridge while entering the eastbound highway from southbound Round Lake Blvd. Construction crews replaced the damaged girder and repoured a section of the bridge deck above the new beam.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
The majority of Highway 10 work will be complete by mid-October, but crews will return next spring to place a thin coat of blacktop and restripe the roadway.
For more information, including construction schedule and upcoming traffic impacts, visit the Hwy 10 project webpage. If you have questions, please contact the project team.
A project to add a third lane to Hwy 10 from Hanson Blvd. to Round Lake Blvd. in Coon Rapids has been underway since March. The project also includes repaving Hwy 10 and adding noise walls along the highway. These improvements will provide some relief from increased traffic and delays due to congestion between Round Lake Blvd. and Hanson Blvd. And once finished, this stretch of Hwy 10 will have a smoother road surface and will improve safety and drainage, as well as lessening the amount of traffic on local roads. The project is anticipated to be complete by late May 2026.
