Public invited March 9 and 11 to learn about Highway 14 and Broadway Avenue Rochester reconstruction project

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a public meeting on Monday, March 9 (two virtual options) or Wednesday, March 11 (in-person option) to learn more about upcoming intersection improvements and traffic impacts coming to Highway 14 and Broadway Avenue in Rochester in 2027, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Two virtual public meeting options will be held on Monday, March 9 at 12-1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. An in-person public meeting will also be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 4-6 p.m. at Aune Hall in Graham Park (112 Arena Drive Southeast, Rochester, MN 55904). Project staff will share information about construction staging, project benefits and more, and will answer questions.

MnDOT’s planned work in 2027 will help reduce crashes and improve pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. The project will include rebuilding Highway 14 from Crossroads Drive SW to 3rd Avenue SE and Broadway Avenue from 9th Street SE to the access points north of 14th Street S. It will also make turn lane alterations, replace the traffic signal, improve lighting, upgrade ADA facilities, adjust crosswalks and install new sidewalks and trails.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the intersection and trucks will be detoured around the intersection. It is expected that for about one week, the intersection will be fully closed, and all traffic will be detoured.
To learn more about these projects and see concept features, visit the MnDOT project website where people can sign up for updates, review information and take a brief survey on construction communication preferences.

MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, a language interpreter or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at ADArequest.dot@state.mn.us or call 651-366-4720.
