Training and consultation
The MnDOT Communications and Public Engagement Office sponsors training public engagement and related training for MnDOT Project Managers, Planners, Public Engagement staff and others who are involved in public engagement activities. Offerings include:
Consultants Academy
The Consultants Academy is a workshop designed to provide MnDOT staff and prequalified consultants guidance and resources on agency policies, practices and standards related to the Public Engagement and Communications Work Types. By the end of the training, both MnDOT staff and consultant partners are better equipped and prepared to apply and implement the agency's public engagement and communications standards and processes in their future work.
Foundations in Public Participation
Foundations in Public Participation was designed by International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) with the input of successful practitioners who work with diverse populations and divergent circumstances throughout the world. The course is divided into two modules, each focusing on one of the two major phases of public participation, planning and techniques.
Public Engagement that Works
The curriculum is influenced by the best practice of the IAP2. Participants will learn MnDOT’s public participation approach and public engagement policy, the core values of effective public participation, and the successive five-step process of public participation that works.
