Hwy 55 open only to those who live, visit or work in Annandale; however, expect changes:
Gravel surfaces, narrow lanes with no shoulders and lane shifts
Pedestrian sidewalk closures, follow signs
Expect segments of hard closures at times to work on access or structures beneath the road; follow signs to next available access
Current work
Hwy 55 Brown Ave. to Poplar Ave.
Crews continue to reconstruct the west end of the project from Brown Ave. to east of Oak Ave. Expect changes and lane shifts in this area through mid-October.
Hwy 55 Poplar Ave to Annandale Blvd.
Crews are working on final road markings, rumble strips and drainage ponds. When complete in early October, the widened road will have a new center left-turn lane.
About this 2025 project
MnDOT will resurface and improve Hwy 55 from Brown Ave. to east of Annandale Blvd. (1.4 miles) in Annandale, includes utilities and access.

Realign to improve access at Hwy 55 and Oak Ave./Hwy 24/Harrison St.
Install a flashing pedestrian crosswalk signal
Realign to improve access at Hwy 55 and Poplar Ave. S
Close the west end Service Rd. entrance, just east of Poplar Ave. S. and install a cul-de-sac

Update or add pedestrian sidewalk along both sides of Hwy 55 between Brown Ave. and Cherry Ave.; continue on the north side to Poplar Ave. and connect to Service Rd.

Widen the road along the north side shoulder to add a center left-turn lane from east of Poplar Ave. to west of Annandale Blvd.
