About this project
Summary of MnDOT work

- MnDOT is reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive from 700 ft west of Marlene St through the intersection of Bruce Street in the City of Marshall.
- The City of Marshall is replacing sanitary sewer and water main utilities.
- A single-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Highway 19/College Drive, Country Club Drive, and South 2nd Street.
- An EV Charging Station will be installed in the Avera parking lot.
- Sidewalk improvements will be made along the project area to improve accessibility.
- Several traffic control changes throughout the route will be made to enhance safety.
- A bike lane will be striped from Marlene St. to just west of Fairgrounds Rd.
- Trees will be replanted in the fall of 2026(PDF). Tree selections can be viewed here(PDF), please note, these are subject to change.
Traffic impacts
Project update: April 24, 2026
Work Zone: Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge
- Most removals are done (roadway pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk, signage, and street lighting).
- Watermain is completed at Lyon St. and Marshall St.; work continues at Redwood St. with three water connections remaining.
- Sanitary sewer is completed at Marshall St. and Lyon St.; two sewer connections and Redwood St. work remain.
- Utility crews (non-project related) are working behind Marshall Smoke Shop in the alley.
- Filtration train for contaminated materials is set up at Redwood St.
- Next week: Storm sewer installation begins near the Bandshell Bridge and moves toward Main St.
Work Zone: Legion Field Bridge to Main St.
- Saratoga St./ Highway 19 signal system completed Tuesday; includes new flashing yellow arrows on both sides of Saratoga St.
- Subcontractors are prepping the boulevards and areas behind sidewalks for soil work and seeding. Weather permitting, they will begin applying Hydraulic Bonded Fiber Matrix (erosion control).
Traffic Access and Impacts
- Highway 19 is closed from Main Street to the Liberty Park Bridge.
- W. Lyon St., W. Redwood St., and W. Marshall St. are closed at Highway 19.
- Alleys between W. Lyon St. and W. Redwood St., and between W. Redwood St. and W. Marshall St., are closed at Highway 19.
- Main St./Highway 19 intersection is open.
- Businesses within the work zone remain open.
- Addison Public Parking Lot is open.
- Highway 19 remains open to local traffic from N. 3rd Street to Bruce Street.
Fun Facts
- 58 structures and 2,213 ft of storm sewer pipe will be installed.
- Marshall St./ Highway 19 becomes right-in/right-out only, with a concrete median.
- New RRFB (rectangular rapid-flashing beacon) pedestrian crossing will be installed near Anytime Fitness.
- W. Lyon St./ Highway 19 signal system will not return—new stop signs will be installed.
