Summary of MnDOT work

  • MnDOT is reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive from 700 ft west of Marlene St through the intersection of Bruce Street in the City of Marshall.
  • The City of Marshall is replacing sanitary sewer and water main utilities.
  • A single-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Highway 19/College Drive, Country Club Drive, and South 2nd Street.
  • An EV Charging Station will be installed in the Avera parking lot.
  • Sidewalk improvements will be made along the project area to improve accessibility.
  • Several traffic control changes throughout the route will be made to enhance safety.
  • A bike lane will be striped from Marlene St. to just west of Fairgrounds Rd.
  • Trees will be replanted in the fall of 2026(PDF). Tree selections can be viewed here(PDF), please note, these are subject to change.

Project update: June 4, 2026

Work zone: Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • Concrete paving has been completed from Lyon Street to Redwood Street and Redwood Street to Marshall Street.  Crews are working on paving the Lyon Street crossing. 
  • ADA components continued to be poured at intersections.  These include landings, ramps and truncated domes which are textured surfaces used as a warning for people who are blind or have low vision.         
  • Concrete sidewalks continue to be installed.
  • Bridge work continues on Liberty Park Bridge. 
  • Underground electrical work continues for street lighting.

Work zone: Main Street/ East College Drive intersection (Hwy 19/Hwy 59/Hwy 68)

  • Curb and gutter installation have been completed.
  • Signal system foundations are being formed and poured. 
  • Signal system electrical, footing, and underground work is underway.   
  • Concrete paving is scheduled to begin June 4 in the intersection. 
  • Signal loops are being installed. A signal loop is a sensor buried in the pavement that tells a traffic light when vehicles are present. 

Work zone: Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection 

  • Sanitary sewer installation is complete.
  • Storm sewer installation is underway.

Work zone: Legion Field Bridge to Main St. 

  • Intermittent finishing work will be taking place.

Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • Concrete paving will continue.
  • ADA work will continue. 
  • Sidewalk work will continue.
  • Street lighting underground electrical work will continue.
  • Street lighting foundation work and pole setting will begin.

Main Street/ East College Drive intersection

  • Concrete paving will continue.
  • ADA work will begin.
  • Sidewalk work will begin.
  • Signal system foundation work is scheduled to be completed. Cure time is required before signal poles can be installed on the foundations.
  • Signal system loops installation is scheduled to be completed.
  • Signal system controller cabinet is scheduled to be installed.

Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection

  • Watermain installation is scheduled to begin.
  • Storm sewer installation is scheduled to be completed.

Legion Field Bridge to Main Street on Highway 19 (year 1 project area)

  • Maintenance work on installed items.

Traffic access and impacts

  • The Bruce St. / East College Dr. intersection is closed.
    • Businesses are open and can be accessed from either Hwy 19 west from North 3rd Street or Highway 19 east from Hwy 23.
    • Access across the intersection is closed.
  • Main St. to Liberty Park Bridge on Hwy 19 is closed.
    • Traffic must use the detour on CR 7 and Hwy 23.
  • Main Street/Hwy 19 intersection is closed.
    • Traffic should use CR 33 and Hwy 23.
  • West Lyon Street and West Marshall Street are closed at Highway 19.
  • Alleys between West Lyon Street and West Redwood Street, and between West Redwood Street and West Marshall Street are closed at Highway 19.
  • West Redwood Street will be open to cross at Hwy 19.
  • Hwy 19 is open to local traffic from North 3rd Street to Bruce Street.
  • Businesses within the work zone remain open.
  • Addison Public Parking Lot is open
  • Please watch for pedestrians.
